Optimism- Messages from Above

Optimism. So neccesary to life yet so few of us have it. Its really not hard to imagine why. That is why we must fight so hard to keep it alive within us.
Hi—> My name is Evelyn and I am a former optimist, recovering pessimist, soon to be optimist again.
At some point in my long life of 31 years, I lost my way. I went from believing in unicorns and sunshine to believing that people are assholes that will only disappoint you. I think this started when I started working for “The Man” in earnest. Disillusioned, jaded and skeptical later…
Whilst in London for an end of the year holiday, I realized and decided that SOMETHING had to change and it was my attitude. Unfortunately, I let past disappointments weigh me down, and in reality, that shyt started to suck because that is so not my personality.
I am an idealist, a romantic, and a playful loving person at heart. Sure, I’ll shank you if warranted, but for the most part I like to be joyous and happy. I’m not a bubbly nut, but there is something to be said about viewing the world in lightly tinted rose colored glasses. Life just looks better.
Like its filled with rainbows, sprinkles, mythical Unicorns, and lychee fruit. And banging ass shoes that are on sale.
Yeah, just like that.
2010 was kinda rough for various reasons. I think had I had a bit more optimism, it wouldn’t have FELT as horrible as it did. Don’t get me wrong. Some of the life shyt was real ill but a little bit more light would have lessened my load.
I now fully understand why enlightened doctors tell cancer patients that Optimism and Attitude is just as important to their healing (even more so) than all of the drugs.
It Works. Without getting all “The Secret” on bammas (because the laws go deeper than just the Law of Attraction….and it’s deeper than “think good thoughts”, You really are what you believe.
So while I have some personal and professional intentions for 2011, what I came up with as the main theme is ” Do Something Different”. The tool for doing something different is “Optimism”.
This is how I know that I am on the right track: Reference- see the picture above. Yes, that is the back side of a NYC metro card (underneath a pile of pistachio nut shells—> see? I’m trying to eat healthy). But look at the message: OPTIMISM. This card is from August 2010. I just left a teaching gig, and while I was cleaning out some files, I find this card. I was about to chuck it and then something said “turn It over”…. low & behold….my guides sent me a confirmation message: Optimism.
So now I will keep this card in my wallet as a reminder as I walk my daily path to achieving and experiencing.
Keeping it Optimistic.
