Meant to be Here?
You never know why you end up in a specific place or location when we have to get there, but once we get there, and if we are open to it- it will become apparent and crystal clear.
I have my own business, but from time to time I do freelance makeup for a cosmetic company and I get booked at different salons around the region. This one particular day, I was booked at a salon very far away. Honestly, at the time I just wasn’t feeling it. My funds were tight and I knew I had to stretch to buy gas to get there and back home. I was also just tired and feeling like I did not want to go. Blah.
I finally get to the salon to find out that things were different than I planned. I put on my best smile and forced myself to fix my attitude…I was there and no point in being pissy about it. The day was very slow and I had so few clients. At one point I asked my guides, ‘Why the hell am I here? I have this, that and the third to do?”.
Time moved forward. At some point, I start talking to one of the young women who worked at the salon. We had been introduced earlier and at the time I found her to be painfully shy. I decided to come out of my own mind and engage her in conversation. At some point I asked her- “What is your dream?” She told me, but felt that it was impossible to achieve. It was in that moment, I understood why I was there. We kept talking and by the end of the conversation, I was able to help her start shifting her thinking towards achieving her dream, give her practical advice on how to make it happen and just give her some peer support and motivation to move forward. I let her know that it would not be easy, that she would be tested and she would at times feel like giving up-BUT if she persevered, the resources would show up and she would achieve her goal. #Winning
In that ten-minute conversation, I think I helped to change the course of her life.
As all things are balanced, in exchange for the energy I gave, I also received. I am going through a major shift in my life right now where I am defining what goddess and feminine energy mean to me and working on how to become more open, vulnerable and trusting of others. I saw this one woman milling about while one of her daughters was getting her hair done. Something said “ask if she would like a makeover”. I asked and she accepted.
I am so glad and grateful she did.
What ensued was a 60-minute laugh fest that was the most pleasurable part of my day and quite frankly, my week. She mirrored to me many of the things that I seek to be as a woman and as a future mother. She was loving, open, trustworthy, vulnerable (I mean I was poking her with mascara wands and eyeliner pencils and she was still cracking up), she openly expressed affection for her children, and in the process, gave me great advice on my business and demonstrated what I needed to see. She modeled to me what I have been trying for days to put into words.
I am so grateful for her and too her and I look forward to building an everlasting relationship with her.
What I learned today is that we are in specific places for a reason. If we are willing to open up and get over ourselves, we will experience what we were meant to experience. Sometimes it can be so subtle that you will miss it if you don’t pay attention. During this day, I was able to receive affirmation and confirmation about my path and purpose and the direction of my business. I was able to laugh heartily and bask in the love of genuine human compassion. I was able to grow in place. You cannot pay for this kind of experience.
You never know when you will be inspired or be an inspiration to others. The next time you are someplace where you don’t want to be, shift your mindset and ask, how can I inspire or be inspired?
